Buster Posey, Neftali Feliz win awards  —  NEW YORK — San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey and Texas Rangers closer Neftali Feliz have been voted the Rookies of the Year.  —  Posey won the National League award in voting announced Monday by the Baseball Writers' Association of America.

Phillies, Contreras Agree to Two-Year Contract  —  The Phillies have reached an agreement with Jose Contreras on a two-year, $5.5 million contract, according to a source.  The contract includes a club option for 2013.  —  ESPNDeportes.com first reported last night the parties were close to a deal.

D'Backs Sign Blum To Two-Year Deal  —  The Diamondbacks officially signed Geoff Blum to a two-year deal, according to the team.  The AP reports that the contract is worth $2.7MM.  D'Backs GM Kevin Towers says signing Blum is the first step to improving his team's bench.

Former Los Angeles Angels outfielder Ed Kirkpatrick, 66, dies  —  ANAHEIM, Calif. — Ed “Spanky” Kirkpatrick, who played seven seasons for the Los Angeles Angels during a 16-year major league career, has died.  He was 66.  —  The team says he died Monday.  No immediate cause of death was available.
