Baseball coach's wife arrested  —  Kim Mattingly, the wife of Los Angeles Dodgers's assistant coach Don Mattingly, was arrested over the weekend and charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct after she allegedly refused to leave her husband's property.

Yankees interested in Mench  —  The Yankees have interest in free agent Kevin Mench as a fifth outfielder, according to a person with knowledge of discussions who asked not to be named because no deal has been struck.  —  Mench, 30, would probably go to Yankees camp on a minor-league contract.

Pettitte Meets With Investigators  —  WASHINGTON — Andy Pettitte spent two and a half hours giving a deposition to Congressional investigators Monday about his former teammate Roger Clemens's challenge to the Mitchell report on performance-enhancing drugs in baseall.

Santana's deal puts Sabathia on deck  —  You don't have to be a New Yorker or one of Johan Santana's heirs to be thrilled with the deal that sent baseball's best pitcher from Minnesota to the Mets.  You could be C.C. Sabathia or any number of other people and still be thinking, “Sweet!”

Beer Run: How to Defeat a Sabermetrician in an Argument  —  I greatly enjoyed the recent smackdown between Rich Lederer of Baseball Analysts and Buster Olney of ESPN regarding the Hall of Fame merits of Jim Rice.  If I had to score the fight, I'd say Rich won the argument in a blowout.

What a Game  —  Well that was one of the more enjoyable Super Bowls I can remember.  The Giants defense really shined, and that catch by Tyree in the 4th quarter had my house shaking.  Everyone had a good time and the food was a hit.  Thanks for all the great ideas.
