Omar fishing for Chad, other pitchers  —  DANA POINT, Calif. - Omar Minaya drafted Chad Cordero while general manager of the Expos.  He has tried to trade for him on several occasions.  Now that Cordero is a free agent, Minaya is again looking to bring Cordero to the Mets.

Dodgers make Ramírez offer  —  Big money, short term is on the table  —  DANA POINT, Calif. - The Dodgers have offered former Red Sox star Manny Ramírez the second-highest average annual value in the history of major league contracts.  Now, where do the Dodgers go from here?

Pedroia goes Gold  —  Dustin Pedroia won the first Gold Glove of his career for 2008, in what could also turn out to be an MVP season for the season baseman.  The award, confirmed by a baseball source, was the only Gold Glove given to a Red Sox this season after Kevin Youkilis took one home for first base in 2007.

Yankees to add Kelleher to coaching staff  —  Brian Cashman has left the St. Regis.  But before he did, he said the Yankees have decided to name Mick Kelleher their first base coach.  Tony Pena will move to bench coach and Rob Thomson to third base.  It's not official yet but will be soon.

Giants not interested in trading Cain  —  Yes, teams continue to ask Giants general manager Brian Sabean about Matt Cain.  —  No, Sabean's not budging.  At the GM meetings Wednesday, Sabean delivered his strongest statement to date that the 24-year-old pitcher won't be traded this offseason for a hitter.

Moore says Jacobs may be Royals' only major off-season acquisition  —  Dayton Moore departed the annual general managers' meetings Wednesday, warning that last week's trade to acquire first baseman Mike Jacobs from Florida might be the Royals' only major off-season move.
