RED SOX, RANGERS TALKED BLOCKBUSTER  —  According to multiple major league sources, one potential deal discussed by the Red Sox and Rangers prior to the non-waiver trade deadline included a package that would have sent Josh Beckett, Jacoby Ellsbury and Kelly Shoppach to the Rangers.

Qualifying Offers Will Be Worth $13MM-Plus  —  Qualifying offers for free agents will be in the $13.3-$13.4MM range, ESPN.com's Buster Olney reports (on Twitter).  The value of the qualifying offers is based on the salaries of the 125 best-paid MLB players, and had been expected to fall in the $12.5MM range.
