LOUIS — Jaime Garcia pitched seven scoreless innings, Matt Carpenter homered and the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-1 Saturday.  —  Garcia (8-4) gave up four hits and one walk while striking out nine for his 50th career win.

White Sox Claim Mike Olt From Cubs  —  The White Sox have claimed Mike Olt from the Cubs, MLB.com's Carrie Muskat tweets.  The Cubs designated Olt for assignment last week when they acquired outfielder Austin Jackson.  They originally acquired Olt from the Rangers when they sent Matt Garza to Texas in 2013.

Simon Pitches 7 Strong Innings as Tigers Beat Indians 6-0  —  DETROIT — Alfredo Simon pitched seven strong innings and J.D. Martinez hit his 35th home run as the slumping Detroit Tigers beat the Cleveland Indians 6-0 Saturday night.  —  Detroit had lost seven of its previous eight games and was outscored 71-21 in that stretch.

Arrieta Leads Cubs Past D-Backs, 2-0  —  CHICAGO — Jake Arrieta pitched eight innings of four-hit ball for his major league-best 18th win, and the Chicago Cubs beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 2-0 on Saturday.  —  Arrieta also struck out seven in his first start since he threw his first career no-hitter against the Dodgers last Sunday.

Price Earns 100th Career Win, Bautista HR, Blue Jays Top O's  —  TORONTO — David Price earned his 100th career victory, Jose Bautista hit his 32nd home run of the season and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Baltimore Orioles 5-1 on Saturday.  —  The AL East-leading Blue Jays bounced back from a 10-2 loss to Baltimore on Friday night.
